Our Lab Services
Why do we have a lab?
The needs and well-being of our patients are at the heart of everything we do at the Swofford & Halma Clinic. Our ‘patients first’ principle guides every aspect of our service from our opening hours to the medical assistance we offer. We aim to provide for all your family’s medical needs in one place and make maintaining and improving your health as simple as possible. It is this principle that has encouraged the provision of lab services for our patients.
What are lab services?
Many conditions require blood to be drawn and tested either to provide an accurate diagnosis or to monitor the progress of the condition. Blood draws can be time consuming for you if you have to travel to different sites to have it drawn and then wait for results before treatment or further testing. We can now draw blood on site, and the results are then returned to us at the medical center where they can be discussed with you and the appropriate course of action taken.
Who draws the blood?
As part of our commitment to our patients, all members of our staff are qualified to the highest possible level. All of our nurses are versed in drawing blood and are experienced in dealing with even the most difficult of veins. You can either make an appointment for your blood draw or use our walk in service. Your blood will be drawn in the privacy and comfort of one of our offices and our nurses will talk you through each step. If you are nervous or unsure of needles, our nurses will take their time and offer as much support as you need. We specialize in working with families and this includes drawing blood from children of all ages. Our nurses will do their upmost to make the experience as pain- and stress-free as possible, hopefully avoiding fear of needles later in life.
Who is PAML and why do we use them?
Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML) is a lab fully accredited by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (Medicare), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, College of American Pathologists, and the State of Washington Department of Health. They are one of the top reference laboratories in the country. We work with PAML because they are a reliable service provider who can cater to all your blood work needs. This means that where blood has been sent for toxicology or microbiology, you can be confident that the results will be accurate and returned to us in a timely fashion. Results are treated confidently and we do not pass on your details to the lab.
If you need blood drawn or just need to discuss your healthcare needs, call us to make an appointment or drop in today and experience the difference that Swofford & Halma can make to your health and well-being today.
Our lab hours are Monday – Friday from 8-5 pm.
